Dawn Pucci, a good friend, a stock dog handler, a member of the BCSDA for several years, and organizer of the Mt. Vernon Highland Games Stock Dog Arena Trial, has lost her son Alex to respiratory failure. We, the BCSDA have sent a donation to the Harbour Haven Childcare Organization, in Alex’s name to honour him.

Alex passed away peacefully this morning after a 6 day fight with respiratory failure. Dave and I were with him. He was at the Naval Hospital here in Oak Harbor, where he was born. So the Dr and nurses that delivered him 3.5 years ago and pediatric staff that all know him so well were able to come say bye and offer support. It was extremely peaceful and the way I would have written the perfect ending to an imperfect situation.

The new BCSDA Board was elected at the AGM in October. These folks have volunteered to represent the membership, and welcome your suggestions and feedback.
Thanks to all who attended the AGM and participated in the very lively auction. Over $500 was raised for the hosting of the Western Canadians, for whenever it's hosted in BC. Extra special thanks to Celeste and Brian for organizing the AGM and hosting the first field trial of the year. The 2009 Top Dog awards also were announced at the AGM. In order to trial in PN and Open, BC resident handlers must be members of the BCSDA at the time of the trial.

The sun is out, the lambs are weaned, the dust is blowing ... it's summer! We've had two excellent field trials so far this Spring. Both Lee's Stirling Acres SDT and Holly's Paxton Valley SDT had large entries in all the classes offered.
Results, including current year standings for Field and Arena trials, have been updated up to June 1. .
